On the closing day of African American History Month, the USDA Coalition of Minority Employees post on our web site, in honor of many, but especially, three brave and courageous men: Americans, John Carlos, Tommy Smith and Australian Peter Norman, and their stand for justice at the 1963 World Olympic Games, in Mexico City. Two Blacks and one white, who took on racism at it best and its height of ignorance and disrespect for human and civil rights of others. Their story is the story and experience of so many still in this country. Examples: US Department of Agriculture employees and minority farmers, especially, Black farmers. There is a direct correlation between those days in 1963 and events leading up to 2015.

The silence of our so called leaders in this country....is deafening. That includes those that pretend to care. Yes, we have a story to tell.

Lawrence Lucas, President Emeritus
Shadow President
