It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, JOSE GUADALUPE "LUPE" GARCIA, on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family from complications of Double pneumonia . He was born October 23, 1943 in Mesilla Park to Guadalupe A. and Esperanza Lopez Garcia. "Lupe" as he was fondly known to his family and friends was a farmer and USDA agriculture consultant for the socially disadvantaged Hispanic Farmers and Ranchers of America Inc.  He was a communicant of Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church.

Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Margarita "Margie" Garcia of the family home; a son, David Garcia; two daughters, Marcela Garcia and Victoria "Vicki" Garcia-Morales; a brother, Gilbert Garcia and wife Virginia all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Amanda, Melissa, Emily and Johnny Garcia as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Victoria Lopez; son-in-law, Ernest Morales and an aunt, Angelita Montoya.

Visitation for Lupe will begin at 6 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled to begin at 7 PM.  Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Holy Mass of Resurrection at 9 AM Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Doña Ana with Reverend Miguel Macaya officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.

Serving as casket bearers will be Danny Montoya, Johnny Lee Garcia, Jerry Chavez, Michael Chavez, Rich Morris and Louis Salcido. Honorary bearers will be Victor Rubio Jr., Johnny Garcia and Leon Garcia.
