Conference Call with Secretary Vilsack

The White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and the USDA Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships invite you to join Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and White House officials for a conference call on Thursday, May 15, at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.

 

We would like to thank the faith and community leaders across the country who are working hard to expand the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to serve more healthy meals to eligible kids and teens this summer.  We will also feature a discussion of best practices in summer meals programs and other helpful information for summer sponsors, sites, and community advocates.

 

If you would like to submit a question about the Summer Food Service Program in advance of the call, please send it to collaborate@usda.gov by Monday, May 12, at 5:00 PM Eastern time.

Deputy Secretary Harden Announces Event in Support of Small Businesses in Rural Areas

 

WASHINGTON, May 12, 2014 - Deputy Agriculture Secretary Krysta Harden announced that USDA's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) will host an event in Arkansas next month to give small business owners the opportunity to partner with federal agencies. The meeting, in Pine Bluff, supports Obama Administration efforts to put Americans back to work and create an economy built to last.
Conference attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a full day of workshops and panel discussions led by program and small business procurement officials from USDA and other federal agencies. Topics include acquisition needs and opportunities, procurement methods and business development resources. In continuing efforts to increase small business contracting participation by enhancing the competitive posture of small businesses and small farmer-owned cooperatives, there will also be a workshop dedicated to contracting opportunities in rural America.
The event will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on the campus of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Building #30, S.J. Parker 1890 Extension Complex Auditorium, 2300 L. A. Prexy Drive, Pine Bluff, Ark. 71601.
There is no conference fee. Pre-registration is preferred with onsite registration available. Registration will open from now until June 18, 2014. For additional information, visit www.usda.gov/osdbu.
