Are you or do you know someone looking for that next opportunity for an exciting and challenging job as a Forest Public Affairs Officer?

The Sequoia National Forest will soon be advertising for a Forest–level Public Affairs Officer (GS-1035/12-13) serving on its Forest Leadership Team.

Headquartered in Porterville, California, Sequoia National Forest consists of three ranger districts, the Hume Lake Ranger District near Dunlap, California, the Western Divide Ranger District just east of Springville, California and the Kern River Ranger District at the southern end of the forest near Lake Isabella.

The Sequoia is one of nineteen National Forests in California and takes its name from the giant sequoia, the world's largest tree, which grows in more than 30 groves in the forest's lower elevation slopes. The Sequoia's landscape is as spectacular as its trees. Soaring granite monoliths, glacier-carved canyons, roaring whitewater, and more await your discovery at the Sierra Nevada's southern end. Elevations range from 1,000 feet in the foothill region to peaks over 12,000 feet in the rugged high country, providing visitors with some of the most spectacular views of mountainous landscape in the entire west.

The 1.2 million acre Sequoia National Forest also administers the 328,000 acre Giant Sequoia National Monument.  The Sequoia National Forest is one of the Early Adopters of the 2012 Planning Rule and is presently undergoing Forest Plan Revision along with its neighboring Sierra and Inyo National Forests.  The Forest has a strong and vibrant fire, veg and fuels program, recreation opportunities including dispersed and developed camping areas, remarkable features such as Buck Rock Lookout, Trail of 100 Giants, an active heritage resource program, portions of six Wilderness Areas, two Wild & Scenic River segments, and unique wildlife and plant species.

Please help us recruit candidates ready for the next challenging part of their career.   If you have further questions or desire additional information about this opportunity give me a call or send me an e-mail.
