the below (the video) is why many of us do what we do.
i spent time with my grand parents in rural virginia when i was around 2 years old for a winter (like it was only yesterday). additionally, during my early years my 3 brothers & i spent every summer with them until they passed away, when i was around 12.
the Black farmers issue rekindled those memories that live with me to this day. it is a blessing that i have such an opportunity to live out many of the values they instilled in me. they were such wonderful human beings. they gave me a sense of purpose, and i had no idea that one day it would translate into being an advocate for civil & human rights.
all too many of us want to ignore the legacy of living in rural america, a sense of history that relates to the land & a way of life that gives us a purpose.
