    America,

We can't go on like this.

Since 2010, Congress has veered from crisis to crisis; careening between hanging off the "fiscal cliff" and crashing into the debt ceiling. This is no way to run a country, and it has to stop. And, we can't let them use a self-inflicted crisis to force through cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits.

Now "the sequester"—a series of self-imposed, indiscriminate cuts to all government agencies—is set to constrict our economy even further, costing jobs and preventing us from investing in our future.

This December 12th, a coalition of groups representing millions of Americans will flood our elected leaders with phone calls demanding that they stop this foolish austerity and cancel the sequester! Click here if you'll stand with us.

Republicans and some Democrats have planned since the beginning to loosen the sequester in exchange for unpopular cuts to our Social Security system, Medicare and Medicaid. This is insane.

Congress can work together now to end all of these careless cuts in benefits and services by closing corporate tax loopholes and ending tax breaks for the wealthy so that everyone pays their fair share. It can reject any cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. And Congress can act to end the senseless politics of austerity and invest in good jobs.

Join us: Put your name on the line against the sequester, towards a fairer tax code, and against all cuts to our earned benefits.

Thank you,
Michael Phelan
