Subject: How loud would one million voices be?
Melissa, When the Congress entered its budget conference after the government shutdown ended, we warned you that our Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits could be threatened. Thankfully, over 700,000 people signed a petition Social Security Works led with its partners against cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits. And yesterday, we delivered those signatures to budget conference co-chair Rep. Paul Ryan's office. Here's how it went: This fight isn't over. The budget conference has until December 13th to issue its report, and the corporate lobbyists who have been fighting our Social Security system since we built it are speaking louder than ever. That's why we need your help to push this petition past 1 million signatures. Are you on Twitter? Can you re-tweet our petition? If you aren't on Twitter—can you email 5 friends and ask them to join us at bit.ly/NoCutsSSW? Thank you for standing strong for our earned benefits. Alex Lawson Social Security Works | ||||
