Gina McCarthy: " Will EPA Corruption End under your Administration?"
EPA whistleblowers and victims of discrimination are asking whether Gina McCarthy, President Obama's nominee for EPA Administrator has a commitment to rooting out corruption, discrimination and retaliation at the EPA. EPA is well known for its sordid history of whistleblower retribution. The No FEAR Act, the first whistleblower and civil rights law of the 21st century was born out of the despicable conditions that EPA whistleblowers and civil rights victims endured. " We need Congress to fight for truth tellers in the federal government," said Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo, Chairperson of the No FEAR Coalition. " I am hoping that we will find a courageous member of the Senate Environment and Public Works panel to question Ms. McCarthy on her commitment to cleaning up the environment of fear and intimidation to signal when the public or EPA employees are placed at risk."
The No FEAR Coalition and other whistleblower groups will start visiting members of the Environment and Public Works Committee to secure an agreement before Ms. McCarthy is confirmed, that she will protect whistleblowers and victims of abuse during her tenure. " As long as EPA whistleblowers are silenced the public is at risk," Dr. Coleman-Adebayo stated." She continued, "we plan to use the confirmation hearing as an opportunity to learn whether McCarthy is committed to fighting EPA corruption and to educate the public about the importance of supporting and protecting EPA whistleblowers.
