Our insurance company won't cover a procedure recommended by our doctor to help our 5-year-old son Carson gain his hearing. Sign our petition asking Coventry Health to cover cochlear implant surgery.

Every day my five year old son Carson asks me if we can go get his "robot ears," and every day I have to look him in the eyes and shake my head "No." Carson is legally deaf because of a condition he was born with -- but that his doctor says could be corrected by receiving cochlear implants.

When we found out this procedure would cost us $250,000 out of pocket, we were stunned. 90% of health insurance companies cover cochlear implants, but our provider, Coventry Health Care of Georgia, does not. Without coverage, we simply can't afford to help our son hear.

This surgery is important for our son now because he's starting kindergarten this year. We started a petition on Change.org asking Conventry Health to provide coverage for cochlear implant surgery like most other insurance companies do. Click here to sign our petition now.

Carson is a very bright boy who's very social, but he struggles to interact with other children his age like at the playground and at birthday parties. As his parents, we want to be able to have a choice as to whether or not our son should receive this surgery. With it, he'll be able to hear his own voice -- and ours.

We know that the cochlear implants aren't a magic pill -- Carson will need auditory verbal therapy after the surgery. But as his parents, we feel this is the best path for him. We want to do everything we can to help our son, and we think we should have the option to help him hear with this surgery.

We found out that another insurance company, Aetna, just bought Coventry Health Care and is one of many providers that cover cochlear implant surgery. But Coventry hasn't changed its policy -- and we still can't afford this surgery for Carson.

Health insurance companies are susceptible to public pressure and we believe that with enough signatures, Coventry will change its policy -- not just for our family but for others too.

Click here to sign our petition to Coventry Health demanding they cover cochlear implant surgery like other health providers so that our son Carson can have a chance at hearing.

Thank you for your support.
