Dear Melissa,

Opposition is growing. Tell your legislators and Governor Pence to overturn Leucadia's dirty deal!
Stop Leucadia
Take Action!\

Wall Street investors know a bad deal when they see one -- that's why they want you to pick up the tab for their newest dirty coal project.

Leucadia Corporation, a Wall Street hedge fund, wants to build a dirty coal plant in Rockport, Indiana and to pass the tab on to Hoosier ratepayers. The plant would further pollute the Ohio River Valley and would make it harder to breathe in the already toxic town of Rockport.

Leucadia's lobbyists convinced legislators to put Hoosier ratepayers on the hook for all of the financial risk and environmental destruction that the coal-to-gas plant presents. But Leucadia's sweetheart deal is facing increased scrutiny, and lawmakers appear ready to revisit the deal.

Call on your legislators and Governor Pence to stand up to Leucadia's lobbyists and protect Hoosiers from this dirty, expensive deal!

We've heard this story before. In Edwardsport, Duke Energy built a coal-to-gas project, which was riddled with cost overruns, mismanagement, and malfeasance. What started as a $1.3 billion project ballooned to over $3 billion, with Indiana ratepayers covering almost all of the expense. Leucadia thinks they can fool Hoosier families again -- it's up to us to prove them wrong.

You've been with us every step of the way as we fought this dirty plant. Thousands of you have sent messages countering Leucadia's request for federal money to build the plant and questioning whether it is wise to build yet another coal plant on the already polluted Ohio River. We even successfully lobbied for a question in Indiana's gubernatorial debates -- and the answers were revealing.1 Leaders from both parties are now openly questioning the wisdom of the bill.

This is our chance to stop this dirty plant. Every message helps -- ask your legislators and Governor Pence to sink Leucadia's dirty deal!

It is time to send a strong message to Indiana politicians -- we won't stand for corporate welfare for polluters at the expense of Hoosier families.

Sincerely,

Andy Bean
