 Hart Senate Office Building

Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator:

The USDA Coalition of Minority Employees will co-host this year's Whistleblower, Civil & Human Rights Conference/Summit, in Washington, DC.  As you know The Coalition has been very active at the US Department of Agriculture since 1994, regarding their continued widespread racism, sexism, reprisal, intimidation, sexual assault, hostile work environment, and other abuses against USDA employees and minority farmers.

Over the last six years members from the Make it Safe Coalition (MISC) have arranged an assembly of whistleblowers in Washington, DC each year for an annual conference originally known as Washington Whistleblower's Week. As usual the MISC and the media are always invited, but we are proud to announce that MSNBC Host Dylan Ratigan has agreed to participate and the PACIFICA Foundation has committed to broadcast the historic event this year.

We would like for Senator  to reserve a meeting room at the Capitol Hill Visitor's Building for us on Monday—May 21, 2012 for our Plenary Session and Whistleblower Panel Discussion and Tuesday May 22, between 11:00 AM-6:00 PM. There will be a civil rights round table in the afternoon on Tuesday. We are a gathering of credible civil & human rights groups, whistleblowers and public interest advocates. Featured speakers       will be some of the following:

Tom Devine, Legal Director

Government Accountability Project

Stephen Kohn,   President

National Whistleblower Center

Kent Burns, Director of Communications

Taxpayers Against Fraud

Lawrence Lucas, President

USDA Coalition of Minority Employees

Arlene Englehart, Executive Director

PACIFICA Foundation

Marcel Reid, Board of Directors

Pacifica Foundation

Reverend Walter Fauntroy, Founder

No FEAR Institute

Marsha Coleman Adebayo, Co-chair

No FEAR Coalition

Michael McCray, Co-chair

International Association of Whistleblowers

The Make It Safe Coalition (MISC) is as assortment of various public interest/advocacy groups including the Government Accountability Project, the International Association of  Whistleblowers, the American Federation of Government Employees, Federal  Law Enforcement    Officers Association, the Project On Government Oversight, the No FEAR Coalition, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the United Food  and Commercial Workers International Union, Voices for Corporate Responsibility, and International Brotherhood of Teamsters and many other groups; which will focus on critical issues, i.e., First Amendment rights, discrimination and other abuses against federal employees, medical safety, national security, judicial reform, etc.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and assistance in this matter. We are looking forward to a very exciting and successful conference/summit.

In addition, we would like for you to give a brief speech at our event.  The details will follow.

Sincerely,

  //s//
