I did almost all of my work today at a local starbucks at Barnes and Noble, because my cable internet provider-- Comcast-- went down. up against the only wall with a power outlet, with Barnes and Noble in the background I wrote a few articles, did a poll, sent out a major mailing to our almost 1500 article writers who'd written for OEN in the past year. I spoke to a few new volunteers, sent out an announcement to all editors, sent many emails to our webmaster regarding tweaks and fixes, published about 20 items from the queue... walked one of our writers through some trouble he was having posting an article, then found an image for it. The nurses, represented by the group National Nurses United, had set up a nurses' station to provide basic first aid for Occupy Chicago protesters in Grant Park. But over the weekend, the nurses were among 130 arrested by Chicago Police at the protest. The union said police also ripped down the nursing station.

Npr Dumping Opera Show Over Host's Dc Protest

The article (available here) is entitled: BofA Said to Split Regulators Over Moving Merrill Derivatives to Bank Unit. The thrust of their story is that Bank of America's holding company, BAC, has directed the transfer of a large number of troubled financial derivatives from its Merrill Lynch subsidiary to the federally insured bank Bank of America (BofA). The story reports that the Federal Reserve supported the transfer and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) opposed it.
