21 September 2011to all:i feel the whole leadership team (tom vilsack, pearlie reed, and joe leonard & others) at usda needs to be put into "receivership" due the continued discrimination, racism, sexism, sexual assaults, and other abuses that still remain in and around usda today. civil rights organizations, the congress, and the white house, and others have been silently observing while minority farmers, especially, Black farmers and usda employees suffer in silence.the obama administration at usda is worst than the bush administration. vilsack fired shirley sherrod and also is said to be part the blamed for discrimination against 6,000 Black iowa state employees, while he was governor. this was reported by the iowa's largest newspaper recently. "the apple don't fall far from the tree".as law biddings american citizens, we will stand (filibuster) together, on 4 october, in front of usda, and tell the american public that the obama/vilsack administration has allowed all this abuse to continue under their watch.lawrence lucas, presidentusda coalition of minority employees856/ 910-2399THIS IS A HISTORY MAKING EVENT FOR THE US DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE

It is troubling, and discouraging to me to learn of the support of the NAACP, National Action Network, and Rainbow Coalition for the Department of Agriculture\Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Joe Leonard.
He is the underlying problem for the Black Farmers, and minority employees at USDA. Let's not forget the NAACP initially supported the termination of Shirley Sherrod.
Joe Leonard made no contributions regarding Mrs. Sherrod's reinstatement.
NAACP, National Action Network, and Rainbow Coalition need to reassess your support for Joe Leonard.

But our work is only just beginning and to continue on this path forward we need your support. There are two things you can do right now to make this nation a better place:

Over the past year, we have seen an unprecedented rise in bigotry, malice and ignorance in the public discourse.
But this type of opposition is nothing new. Our movement saw it in August 1963, when Martin Luther King, Jr. led the March on Washington. We saw it in September 1957, when the Little Rock Nine entered Central High School.
At every stage we have forged ahead by turning the other cheek and standing on our convictions.
Believe it or not, it is our opponents' hatred that is our biggest strength. That is because the NAACP was not founded by hate -- we were founded by hope.
Stand taller knowing that you are a part of the NAACP.
Thank you,
